Laykin et Cie is pleased to present a unique collection of original vintage pieces from our vaults that were designed and produced in the 1980's and remained sequestered for over 30 years.  Each of these bold yellow gold designs are defined by the go-go 80's esthetic of pronounced and confident design. Many of these hand made jewels rely on the symmetry which was so popular during the period while others borrow from the free-form movement of the 1970's.  These limited jewels are all original Laykin pieces which like fine wine were housed in perfect undisturbed slumber throughout the Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush II and Obama years and only came to light recently. They have been inspected and polished in our workshop and each is sold with a certificate of authenticity indicating it's year of manufacture.

Despite a year of challenges shared with all, Laykin designers have introduced several beautiful new creations to the Laykin repertoire. From eternity bands to classic collars and whimsical pins, each of these 2021 pieces evoke the spirit of the Laykin brand and it's continued investment in classic, refined elegance.

For decades the firm delighted the public with exhibitions throughout the United States of it's storied estate jewelry collection which included pieces from the great families and personalities of the Nation. Jeweled collections of Hollywood Celebrities, captains of industry, royalty and even U.S Presidents. Today the Laykin Estate Collection emphasizes pieces which were designed, produced or sold by Laykin et Cie while also featuring collections which have been acquired from current and former Laykin clients.

Laykin et Cie experienced great creative expansion and commercial success in Hollywood and more broadly Los Angeles of the 1930s - 1950s.  Intertwined with the film industry and it's notables, the clientele was a veritable who's who. 

From producers like Orson Wells and Daryll Zanuck to actors such as Edward G. Robinson, Constance Bennett, Norma Talmadge, Claire Trevor, Lana Turner and Jimmy Stewart; the firms commercial and social engagement was in large measure one with Hollywood.  As a result many films produced during the period included Laykin jewels in the production.   

Of these films several were in the film noir category. Jewels included or inspired by this era; we call Jewels Noir. They are sometimes bold, sometimes whimsical and always unique and ready for the silver screen.
