Some jewels are simply beautiful. Others carry within them an entire history of elegance.
The Laykin Yellow is both. A fancy yellow diamond of more than twenty-five carats, cut in the 1940s to proportions that have never been surpassed, it represents the finest traditions of the jeweler's art — and the enduring vision that has defined Laykin et Cie since 1932.
Originally created for an early Laykin client of exceptional distinction — whose identity we hold in the confidence of a long relationship — the stone has now been reimagined in a contemporary setting that honors its origins while making it entirely of our time.
The Stone
A Diamond
of Rare Character
Fancy yellow diamonds of this scale and quality are among the rarest objects in the natural world. The Laykin Yellow displays the deep, saturated color that places it in the highest category of fancy yellows — a warmth that suggests sunlight held within stone.
Cut in the 1940s when lapidaries still prioritized optical perfection over yield, its proportions were determined entirely by what would make the diamond most beautiful. The result is a stone of extraordinary brilliance and fire, with a clarity classification that places it very near flawlessness.
It is certified by the Gemological Institute of America.
The Choker
Silk, Velvet,
and Twenty-Five Carats
The Laykin Yellow is currently presented on a silk and velvet choker of the deepest black — a setting that allows the stone to command the room entirely on its own terms. The ribbon is finished with a discreet expansion mechanism at the back, allowing the choker to be worn in perfect comfort while remaining impeccably fitted.
The diamond surround — fine white diamonds set in 18-karat gold — frames the yellow stone with a precision that amplifies its color and brilliance. The mounting is entirely convertible: the Laykin Yellow can be worn as a choker, as a ring, as the centerpiece of a necklace, or as a brooch.
It is, in other words, a jewel for every occasion — and for a lifetime.
Restrained elegance has always been the Laykin way.
The Laykin Yellow is its fullest expression.
